FITS financial management is the tracking and control of ICT services and support costs. In its entirety, it also covers cost recovery as a means to place accountability for ICT costs on the users of the service.The purpose is to ensure that the costs are justifiable.This process also helps to identify particularly costly areas that you may want to examine to see if a different approach might reduce costs.

KEY TASKS FOR IMPLEMENTATION

Assign roles 
Consider ways to reduced the cost of ICT services and support
Standardise - minimise the different equipment
Go for economies of scale buy equipment or services in bulk
Improve incident management by reducing supplier involvement
Improve user skills to avoid costly call-out charges
Create an expenditure record to account for all purchases
Record all expenditure including hardware. Software and support
Prepare participants in the implementation and operation of the process
Set a start date for the process, allowing enough time to prepare
Launch the financial management process
